Bjorn San Juan’s graduation story at OEd is rooted in determination and perseverance. As an alumnus who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, this milestone is more than an academic achievement.
Living with Asperger’s syndrome (autism), Bjorn’s journey to finishing college became a powerful affirmation that no obstacle can stop a determined heart.
A Learning Journey Defined by Persistence
From an early age, Bjorn understood that his learning journey would be different. He faced challenges in communication, social interaction, and adapting to traditional learning environments.
Still, his love for learning and storytelling pushed him forward. Education became both a personal mission and a promise to himself that he would continue growing despite the limitations often placed on people with autism.
Challenges During the Pandemic Era

When the world stood still, many students were forced to pause their studies. For Bjorn, the situation created uncertainty, particularly regarding safety and the continuity of learning.
Traditional classroom setups were no longer viable, and the pressure of isolation added another layer of difficulty for a neurodivergent student.
Rather than giving up, Bjorn and his parents sought a safe, flexible way for him to continue his education. Their search led them to OEd, an online school that supports students through adaptable and accessible learning systems. What began as a practical solution during a crisis became a life-changing opportunity.
Pursuing Mass Communication with OEd’s Flexible Education
Through OEd’s flexible learning system, Bjorn found an environment that respected his pace, his needs, and his strengths. Online learning allowed him to study in a space where he felt secure and focused.
Bjorn enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, one of OEd’s diverse academic programs that nurture creativity, critical thinking, and real-world communication skills. The program gave him the confidence to express himself through writing and research.
Recorded lectures, structured modules, and accessible faculty support helped him stay engaged even during the most uncertain months of the pandemic. More importantly, it allowed him to continue pursuing his dream without compromising his well-being.
Completing his thesis became Bjorn’s proudest moment, symbolizing not just academic growth but also faith in himself and his abilities.
A Graduation Day to Remember
Bjorn officially graduated on October 10, 2025, at the Metropolitan Theater. Standing on that stage was the culmination of years of effort and sacrifice from both Bjorn and his family.
“I’m thankful and proud because I can also inspire many people with the same condition as me, and other persons with disabilities (PWDs). OEd helped me learn in a safe and flexible environment,” he said.
Bjorn’s journey now stands alongside other inspiring milestones from OEd alumni, such as Maria Octavio and John Michael Angelo’s stories, which highlight how education can empower individuals regardless of personal circumstances
